La Scala presents the world premiere of a new opera, commissioned to the most frequently performed female composer in Italy. Anna A., conceived primarily for a young audience, tells the story of the poet Anna Akhmatova in twentieth-century Russia. The opera, narrated through a language that blends music and spoken word, delivers a universal message about the conflict between art and power – a conflict that resonates with dramatic urgency in today’s world.
